Solving Hybrid Cloud Challenges With Elastifile

As 2017 draws to a close, more and more companies are moving from private-only to hybrid cloud. Last year hybrid cloud adoption increased threefold from just 19% to 57% of organizations surveyed in McAfee’s annual State of the Cloud Adoption & Security report (PDF download). This year, experts predict similar growth, with more enterprises overcoming hybrid cloud adoption challenges and reaping the benefits of both private and public cloud infrastructures.

So what are some of the challenges that enterprises still face when it comes to public and hybrid cloud adoption? While filming our latest RoadCast video series, we met with Dr. Allon Cohen, VP of Product at Elastifle, to learn about some of the challenges that organizations are facing around hybrid cloud.

Cohen tell us one of the first challenges organizations are met with is with finding a secure and efficient way of moving their data to the cloud. They have to make sure that the right data is available at the right time in the cloud.

Once the data is in the cloud, they have to make sure that the applications that rely on this data can continue to work with the data in a different location, says Cohen; and being able to do so without having to completely rearchitect the apps so they can run in the cloud.

Another important challenge enterprises have to take into consideration is how to manage their cloud costs, according to Cohen. Because cloud resources are always available on-remand, they can get out of hand if the applications are not closely monitored.

Lastly, most enterprises don’t want to tie themselves into a single cloud environment, says Cohen. They want to retain the freedom and flexibility to move out of the cloud as needed or to move to a different cloud provider.

Elastifle helps companies overcome these hybrid cloud challenges with its cross-cloud data fabric, which enables organizations to quickly, easily and cost effectively move data to and from cloud environments from both on-prem and other cloud environments, Cohen explains. Elastifile’s tools help organizations make sure that the right data is always available when you need it, but also allowing the applications to access the data in the same way that they’re used to accessing the data in their on-prem environment, says Cohen. And all of this can be accomplished with Elastifile’s powerful tools.

In the video, Cohen goes on to explain exactly how Elastifle’s cloud solutions work to enable enterprises to migrate their data, even legacy data, from on-prem environments to a cloud-based file system. Cohen also shares some light on how Elastifile is different from other vendors who focus on cross-cloud, multi-cloud and hybrid cloud solutions. Hybrid cloud is a great choice for any organization that wants to continue to benefit from its own on-premises IT investments, while at the same time take advantage of the economies of scale that private and public cloud services can offer, says Cohen. The current hybrid cloud challenges are no longer obstacles for enterprises that leverage powerful technologies, like Elastifle’s cross-cloud data fabric.

What Is Cross-Cloud Data Fabric?

In a separate video, we spoke with Andy Fenselau, VP of Marketing at Elastifle, to learn more about the company’s cross-cloud data fabric. Watch the video to get a quick overview of Elastifile’s core technology and what it offers to organizations, including a real-world use case and example of how a customer might leverage the cross-cloud data fabric in production.
